Join us as we hear about Victoria's journey looking specifically at THE VOICE OF THE CHILD, Victoria's lived experience and the hidden harm. Presentations from Children's Social Care, Health, Police and Education about the legislation and practice then and what we have learned since.
The presenters are professional subject matter experts from the multiagency partnership.
This is a sensitive subject, may cause some emotional responses and require support. There will be a safe space for any one attending who needs to take some time out, this space will be supported by a senior professional who is able to offer advice comfort a quite space or sign posting.

When there is a death of a child or adult, practitioners from children’s or adult’s services may be asked to attend Coroner’s Court and give evidence about any relevant involvement with the family. This half day session will provide an overview of the Coroner’s Court process and what to expect if you are called.
The training will also address giving evidence virtually in the current pandemic.

Research shows us that traumatic childhood experiences can have a profound impact on many different areas of functioning attachment, biological, sensory, physiology, social, emotional and psychological. Children of prisoners are 3 times more likely to have mental health issues and boys with a father in prison are twice a likely to offend (CREST 2019)
This training will raise your awareness of the needs of children and young people and their families impacted by a family member in prison.
If we are to best meet the needs of young people and minimise the risk of further trauma, a thorough understanding
of the benefits of a positive prison response to families is required.
This course will: Develop an understanding of the impact of parental offending on childhood trauma
Provide a forum to develop skills and nurture children and young people who feel ashamed, have to keep secrets may be experiencing financial difficulties and emotional distress. This course will provide attendees with access to local resources to support children and families with a family member in prison.
